Aloft Introduces Chicago to the World's First Robotic Butler

Aloft Chicago City Center recently showcased a robotic butler capable of delivering items between the front desk and guest rooms. According to Crain's Chicago Business,

It takes about two hours for Botlr to tour a new hotel and create a GPS map for itself that enables independent, autonomous function. Then it's ready to work a shift. You call the front desk about a forgotten toothbrush, and the robot glides to the elevator, wobbling just a bit as it crosses the thresholds between rooms. It can hail an elevator, then use its sensors to dodge people and service carts as it navigates the hallway. It stops in front of your room and calls the room phone, and only when it senses the door opening does it unlock its cargo hatch to yield your toothbrush.
