Albert Friedman names River North

Incorporated as a city in 1837, Chicago was ideally situated on the waterways of Illinois to take advantage of the trading possibilities by the nation’s westward expansion. The bend in the river, which now creates the south and west boundaries of River North, is historically important in the development of early Chicago.
